Super easy winter hat and scarf tutorial!!!

Hey everyone!! I got a request to do a tutorial on a hat and scarf, so that is what I have for you today! Let's get started!

You will need:
knit fabric
(you can choose two coordinating colors, or one color. I chose two because I only had a little of the green)
scissors
sewing machine

First, cut two rectangles of fabric about 10 inches long and 7 inches wide.

Next, fold them in half.

Take one of them and cut a curve on one side, as shown in the photo.

Fold it in half, like shown, and cut a curve on the other side, following the curve you just cut.

Round out the top edge if needed.

Put the curved piece on the other folded piece and cut around it.

Then you will have two pieces like this.

Unfold them, and you should have two ovals.

Put them right sides together and sew along the edge, leaving a two inch opening on one side.

Then, flip it right side out.

Sew the opening shut.

Pull the sides away from each other.

Then, push the side you just sewed shut, into the hat until it touches the other side of the hat.

Straighten it out and it should look like this on the inside.

It should look like this on the outside.

Lastly, fold up the edge and you're done with the hat!

For the scarf, cut a rectangle of fabric about 18 inches long and 4 inches wide. (I only had enough to cut mine 13 inches long, but it would be better if it was cut longer)

Fold it in half, right sides together.

Sew the edges together.

Fold it right side out.

Place the seam in the center back.

Cut strips, like shown, on both ends, that are about 1 and 1/2 inches long. ( I didn't cut mine long enough, so I recommend cutting them 1 and 1/2 inches long)

Next, grab a strip from the front and the back and tie them in a knot.

Do that to all the strips and then you're done!

Now you have a cute hat and scarf for your doll!!!

Isn't the set cute?!

Thanks for reading!
I hope some of you try this! :)

  2. It's adorable! I will use this tutorial next year, more than likely, since it is already in the 70s where I live. :)
