One easy tip to help you improve your photography!!!!

Hey! I was going to have this up on Thursday, but I was too busy with stuff for school, so instead, I am posting it today. Anyways, today I wanted to give a tip to those of you who use cameras for your photography. If you use your phone this probably won't help you. This tip is really easy to do and it can really help your photography to improve! Nobody ever told me about this, I just figured out how to do it by just messing around with my camera one day. I have never seen a post where somebody talked about this tip, so I wanted to share it with you because I wish I would have known about is a lot sooner than I did. The tip is........

Use your zoom!!! This is how far away I stand from my dolls when I take pictures of them. I try to zoom quite a bit when I take photos.

Here I have a few examples of my pictures zoomed and not zoomed. This one is not zoomed.

And this one is zoomed. As you can see zooming helps to blur your background and give you bokeh ( I know there's no bokeh in this picture), as well as making your pictures look not so awkward.

See what I mean? Awkward.....

And not awkward.

Really awaward....

Really not awkward.

Another extra way to help you improve your photography is to get a better camera. The camera I have is a Canon PowerShot SX130 IS. I got mine on ebay for $60, but I've seen them go for less.

One last extra tip I have for you is to mess with your settings. This picture has the settings all on auto.

This has the white balance on cloudy. This is the setting I use for all my pictures.

This one has the white balance on cloudy and the color setting on vivid. This is the setting I used to use until about a month ago. I started to really not like it because it made my dolls look too orange, so I stopped using it.

I hope some of you try the zooming tip!!!

  3. Great tips! I've noticed you actually sort of demonstrated 2 tips in one with your zoom tip! Zooming in also eliminates too much background clutter, which also makes it looks even better! :)

  4. I agree, Kaitlyn, this is a great tip! :) I found out last year that zooming is a great way to improve my photos. I love bokeh, too! ;)

  8. Thank you for this tip! I stay close to my dolls quite often when I take photos of them instead of using the zoom. I did a photoshoot yesterday and today and used your tip and the photos came out so much better!

Your camera is similar to my mom's new camera that I use, a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS. :)

    Thanks again!
