How to make Isabelle's purple leotard!!!

Hey guys! So, today I thought I would do a tutorial on Isabelle's purple leotard! I haven't really been sewing much lately, and since I am trying to make everything in Isabelle's collection, I thought I would work on this! I hope you like it! :)

You will need: gold tulle (I purchased mine for under $2 on eBay), gold sequins (Walmart), lilac colored fabric and thread to match, scissors, a sewing machine, a hot glue gun, and the free LJC swimsuit pattern and the sleeve of the free LJC trendy t-shirt pattern.
Cut out the front piece, altering it like shown in the picture.
Cut out the back piece, altering it like shown in the picture.
When you have cut out all your pieces, these are all the pieces you should have.
Cut out four pieces of tulle shaped like shown. Make sure they are long enough to fit across your dolls body sideways. Stack two and two together, so that you have two pieces.
Sew the shoulders together, making sure to sew the tulle in with it having the pieces of tulle form an X across the chest. Fold the neck under once and sew it down.
Fold the neck under once and sew it down.
Sew the sides and sleeves together, like you would on a tshirt. Make sure you sew in the ends of your tulle along the sides.
Trim the tulle up so that it looks even.
Fold the front of the material where the little 3-D lines will be and sew down the very edge.
Unfold it and it should look like this. Make sure you don't sew all the way down the material and also make sure that the one closest to the side is the longest and they get a little shorter each time.
Do this three times on both sides, trying to make it as even as you can.
Fold the leg holes under twice, and sew it down.
On the back rounded part where your dolls bottom will be, sew it together, good side to good side.
Then sew the crotch area together.
Fold the edges where the Velcro will go under twice, and sew it down. Then sew in your Velcro.

Look at a picture of Isabelle's purple leotard and hot glue the sequins on as the ones on the real leotard are. That's it!

I took some photos of Izzy wearing it! Sorry these aren't the best! By the time I get home from school everyday, its usually dark so I can't go outside to take photos.

Thanks for reading! I hope you guys liked this tutorial!

Oh! And here is a behind the scenes look at how I took these pictures!

I posed her on my dresser and set a bright lamp (the lamp I use when I sew) in front of  her, then took some photos.

P.S. I haven't really drawn anything for about 3 or 4 years, but last night I tried drawing again.

Here is what I drew. What do ya think?!

  3. I swear, if I saw a comparison of the things you make and the real outfit side by side I would have a seriously hard time figuring out which is which. xD

  8. Kaitlyn, I am always blown away by your sewing. You are very very talented!! By the way, what sewing machine do you use? I was just curious because I recognized the sewing table you were working at; it looks a lot like mine :) And that drawing is amazing!!

    2. Awwwww! Thanks so much! My sewing machine is a really old one that is kind of built into a sewing desk. I think the brand is universal or something like that. :)
